11 Super Exciting Things Happening at Wellington Place this Winter

There’s so much to look forward to including a chance to WIN prizes in our Back to Wellington Place prize draw

1. Challenge your pals to a ping pong tournament

Forget all work and no play, because our new outdoor activities area is the ideal spot to take a break from your desk. Blow off some steam thanks to brand new foosball and table tennis games, located behind 1 Wellington Place. Heck, why not challenge your colleagues to an impromptu match – loser makes the next round of tea!

Each company has their own set of bats and balls. Simply pick them up from your office reception and head on down to get things rolling, flying and scoring. Plus, keep your eyes peeled on the Parklife newsletter for upcoming competitions, like our popular ‘Beat the Pro’ table tennis tournament with great prizes to be won.

2. Get on (then lock up) yer bike

Located slap bang on the Leeds Cycle Superhighway, it’s no surprise many people visit Wellington Place by bicycle. But it’s not just a pleasant journey you’ve got in store. Our 30 CyclePods offer a secure place to park your bike with total peace of mind. Forgotten your lock? No problem! Wellington Place workers can borrow a sturdy D-Lock for free (just ask our security team).

Plus, workers can even hire a bike for free through the App-Bike app! Why not take one of our new electric bikes a spin?

3. Our outdoor spaces are getting a big boost!

Historic Tower Square is at the beating heart of the Wellington Place community. Not only is it one of the largest public spaces in Leeds and a firm favorite for al fresco lunches, but its landscaped gardens are getting a mighty makeover courtesy of a £1.1 million investment project.

The goal? More grren space than ever before, with oodles of room for you to dive into live events, social activities and seasonal installations. From local markets to fitness classes, tasty street food stalls to after-work tipples, you’ll find the buzz is well and truly back in Tower Square. Take that, working from home!

If you’re not so big on the bustle, Tower Square also delivers peace and calm. Open spaces are a huge part of Wellington Place and our carefully landscaped gardens aren’t going anywhere. Rather, this new public realm offers more seating areas for you to take a pew and soak in the surroundings.

5. Finding you way has never been easier

Safe to say, we’ve grown quite a bit over the past 15 years (check out our time lapse videos here!). However, we’re making it easier than ever for you to find your way around Wellington Place by installing eye-catching signage throughout the entire development.

No matter if you’re popping to another building for a networking event, heading for a fresh air fix in Tower Square or looking to fill your boots at one of our big-name or indie restaurants – our stylish signposts will help you on your way.

6. A brand new (indoor!) social space

We love our outdoor areas, but as you know, the good old Blighty weather likes to put an occasional spanner in the works. That’s why we wanted to make sure that you also have a collaborative, indoor space where your favourite social events can take place – free from fear of washout!

We’re excited to introduce you to Wellington Central, our new indoor community space. This is where you’ll find many much-loved social groups returning, including the Wellington Place Workplace Choir, Book Club and Social Stitchers. Furthermore, it’ll be a home for workout classes, history talks, charity fundraisers and markets too. Keep an eye on our Parklife newsletter and download the Rewards app to find out more.

7. No need to wave goodbye to our free virtual events

This past year, we’ve all seen a huge shift towards online communication. With many Wellington Place occupiers still blending home and office working, we’ll continue to bring people together and ensure our virtual events remain as accessible as possible.

Brighten up your working day with a singalong alongside our cyber choir, get your endorphins flowing at a weekly workout class, learn something new through expert webinars, then bliss out with a spot of mindful chair yoga. There’s loads to dive into. Plus, all virtual events are free and open to everyone. What are you waiting for?!

8. Say hello to our exciting, in-person events programme

You may have noticed in-person events are also making a triumphant (albeit gradual) return to Wellington Place. What can you look forward to? Street food visits from local traders, house plant sales, action-packed bootcamps and the return of our popular running club, the Wellington Pacers. Check out our events page here.

Support for the local community continues too. We’re proud to showcase the work of talented Leeds Arts University students with our rotational Artist’s Window installation,  and we continue to reach out to local school students through our ever-popular Ahead Partnership volunteer programme. Get in touch if you’d like to get involved!
