Coronavirus (COVID-19): Safer Travel Guidance

Before you travel, consider if your journey is necessary. CLICK HERE for passenger guidance. 

Reducing your travel will help keep the transport network running and allow people who need to make essential journeys continue to travel. If you are able to, continue to work from home.

If you need to travel to Wellington Place, you should avoid using public transport where possible. Instead try to walk, cycle, or drive. If you do travel, thinking carefully about the times, routes, and ways you travel will mean we will all have more space to stay safe.

Rail

If you need to travel to Wellington Place, consider all forms of transport before using public transport.

From 15th June 2020, you must wear a face-covering on public transport in England. You will be breaking the law if you fail to do so and could be fined.

Wellington Place is just a few minutes walk from Leeds train station, which offers direct services to a huge range of destinations all over the UK. Plan your rail journey here.

You can walk from the train station to Wellington Place along the River Aire path, Whitehall Road or Wellington Street. You can view a walking route to Wellington Place from the train station here.

Walk

Consider walking to Wellington Place if you are able to. Walking routes to Wellington Place can be planned using Google Maps.

Where possible, try to maintain social distancing when you walk, for example when approaching or passing other pedestrians or waiting at crossings and traffic lights.

Whitehall Road and Wellington Street, either side of Wellington Place, are well served by frequent bus services to the city centre and to other destinations around Leeds and beyond to Pudsey, Bradford, Halifax and Huddersfield. These stops, which are shown on this map, are a short walk from the centre of Wellington Place. There is a real-time passenger information screen located in Tower Square to let you know when your next bus is.

Cycle

Consider cycling to Wellington Place if you are able to. Where possible, try to maintain social distancing when you cycle, for example when approaching another cyclist or pedestrian.

Wash your hands for at least 20 seconds or sanitise your hands before and after cycling.

There are a number of on and off-road cycle routes leading to Wellington Place including the Cycle Superhighway, Whitehall Road and the canal towpath. The West Yorkshire Cycle Map provides a map of the cycle routes and facilities available in West Yorkshire.

Cycling Facilities

Once you arrive on-site, you can lock your bike using one of our Secure by Design Streetpod bike storage units located at the 4 Wellington Place hoardings opposite Sociable Folk or within the designated basement cycle parking (buildings 3, 5, 6 and 10).

Road

Parking

If you need to drive to Wellington Place, on-site indoor parking is available in the NCP multi-storey car park accessed off Wellington Street, use postcode LS1 4AP. Click here for more details.

If you normally share a vehicle with people from other households for essential journeys, it is recommended that you find a different way to travel. For example, consider walking, cycling, or using your own vehicle if you can.

Park and Ride

Temple Green and Elland Road Park & Ride sites are currently closed due to COVID-19. More information will be provided regarding the re-opening of the Park & Ride sites when available.

Enterprise Car Club

The Enterprise Car Club offers local car rental by the hour for visits, errands and meetings. There are Car Club vans and cars parked throughout the city centre, including Wellington Place. Click here to find out more about the Enterprise Car Club parked at Wellington Place.

As a response to COVID-19, a new 24/7 temporary booking and unlocking process is now in place to allow them to clean vehicles between each rental during this time. More information can be found here.

Car Share

If you normally share a vehicle with people from other households or support bubbles for essential journeys, we recommend you find a different way to travel so that you can maintain social distance.

Air

Leeds Bradford Airport is a 30-minute direct bus ride from Wellington Place on the Flying Tiger 757, which runs every 20 minutes. You can catch the bus from stop W9 shown on this map. The 757 has a luggage storage room, Wifi and device charging points.
