Leeds Park & Ride FAQs: Everything You Need To Know About Getting to Wellington Place

Leeds Park & Ride is a cheap, convenient and stress-free way of commuting to and from the city centre. Not only can you wave goodbye to the hassle of congestion and the cost of parking, its reduced environmental impact also benefits the local community. Win-win!

What is Park & Ride?

Park & Ride (P&R) provides an alternative to driving into the city centre. Simply park your car at one of the three Leeds Park & Ride sites, hop on the frequent bus service and make your way directly to Wellington Place.

Where are the Leeds Park & Ride sites located?

There are three Park & Ride sites in Leeds:

  • Elland Road P&R (PR1) is situated adjacent to the Leeds United football stadium on the A643, just off Junction 2 of the M621 motorway. Postcode for Sat Nav: LS11 0EB.
  • Temple Green P&R (PR2) is situated in the Aire Valley on the A63 Pontefract Lane. Postcode for Sat Nav: LS9 0AA.
  • Stourton P&R (PR3) is situated at Junction 7 on the M621 and can be accessed directly from the M621 motorway, A61 Wakefield Road and A639 Leeds Road to Pontefract Road. Postcode for Sat Nav: LS10 1FF.

Which Park & Ride site should I use?

Which P&R site you use depends where you’re travelling from and what’s most convenient to you. Here’s a simple guide:

  • Elland Road P&R is ideal if you’re travelling into the city from the south and west of Leeds.
  • Temple Green P&R is ideal if you’re travelling into the city from the north and east of Leeds.
  • Stourton P&R is ideal if you’re travelling into the city from the south and southwest of Leeds.

How much does Park & Ride cost?

Parking is FREE and you just pay for your bus journey. This costs £4 per person per day or £3.60 if you buy 5, 10 or 20 days on a prepaid smartcard. If you’re a regular user, you may wish to sign up to the First Commuter Travel Club which allows unlimited P&R journeys all year for £580*.

*Exclusive to Travel Plan Network (TPN) members

All valid MCards, MetroDay, West Yorkshire Day Rovers and Weekender tickets are also accepted.

How do I pay?

You can pay on the bus using contactless, cash or with a P&R smartcard. Smartcards can be collected and topped up by card via the P&R ticket machines located at every site.

Park & Ride

When do Park & Ride services operate?

It depends on which service you are using:

Elland Road P&R (PR1) operates between:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:00 (first bus from Elland Road) -19:50 (last bus from Boar Lane).
  • The site is not open on Saturdays or Sundays.

When midweek football matches are played at Elland Road stadium, the last PR1 bus service leaves from Boar Lane (Trinity P) in the City Centre at 1825.

Temple Green P&R (PR2) operates between:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:00 (first bus from Temple Green) – 20:08 (last bus from Lower Briggate).
  • The site is not open on Saturdays or Sundays.

Stourton P&R (PR3) operates between:

  • Monday – Friday: 06:25 (first bus from Stourton) – 20:20 (last bus from Lower Briggate).
  • Saturdays: 07:00 (first bus from Stourton) – 19:14 (last bus from Lower Briggate).
  • The site is not open on Sundays.

Park & Ride

Where can I get an updated timetable?

You can download the latest timetables for all Park & Ride services online here by searching the route number. The Elland Road route number is PR1, Temple Green is PR2 and Stourton is PR3.

How often do buses run?

All Park & Ride services operate on a 10-20 minute frequency, both to and from the city centre.

How long does the journey take?

Buses take around 10-15 minutes to travel into Leeds city centre.

Where is the nearest stop to Wellington Place?

The closest stop to Wellington Place depends on which of the three routes you are travelling:

  • The PR1 service directly serves Wellington Place from stop Wellington N on Whitehall Road, as shown on this map. The PR1 also serves stop TP on Boar Lane.
  • The closest bus stop for the PR2 service is stop TL on Lower Briggate, as shown on this map.
  • The closest bus stop for the PR3 service is stop SE on Neville Street or TK on Lower Briggate, as shown on this map.

Can I board a Park & Ride service anywhere on the route?

No, each P&R service has dedicated stops for alighting and disembarking:

  • Elland Road (PR1) serves stops on Meadow Road, Great Wilson Street, Boar Lane and Whitehall Road.
  • Temple Green (PR2) serves stops on Meadow Lane, Lower Briggate and York Street, just outside of Leeds Bus Station.
  • Stourton (PR3) serves stops on Wakefield Road, Hunslet Road, Meadow Lane, Lower Briggate, Neville Street and Great Wilson Street.

Can I park my vehicle and not catch the bus?

This isn’t currently possible. If you’d like to get more information, please contact the WYCA in charge of the Park & Ride site you’re interested in.

Can I cycle to the Park & Ride site and catch the bus?

Yes! Cycle parking is available at all Park & Ride sites in the form of Sheffield stands. Stourton P&R also has a secure cycle storage facility.

Do Park & Ride sites have electric vehicle charging points?

Yes, all Park & Ride sites have electric vehicle charging points (EVCP). You can find out about the types available on site by clicking here.

Can I park my vehicle overnight?

You can park your car overnight at any Park and Ride site at your own risk. CCTV is available on all sites. Barriers are in place at all sites meaning you are unable to retrieve your vehicle outside opening hours.
