It was a double whammy for leading corporate lawyers Shulmans at last night’s (16 October 2014) Yorkshire Legal Awards (YLA), as the firm took home both Law Firm of the Year (11-30 Partners) and Managing Partner of the Year accolades.
The prestigious annual ceremony, which took place at New Dock Hall in Leeds, recognises excellence within leading law firms across the region. Tim Halstead, managing partner, was presented with both awards in front of an audience of over 500 people.
Halstead impressed the panel of YLA judges with his guidance of Shulmans through everything from the dangers of the recession to its carefully-planned expansion into niche growth areas onto its position today as a leading force in the Yorkshire legal sector.
Richard Wadkin, Head of dispute resolution and management board member, said: “These two awards bear testament to the hard work, dedication, entrepreneurial spirit and true Yorkshire grit of everyone in the firm.
“Four years ago, Tim was the architect of our plan to grow the business by 50 per cent. Thanks to his stewardship, Shulmans hit that target in three short years, with growth of over 10 per cent in each year. It is therefore no surprise that we also take home the accolade of Law Firm of the Year. Both awards are richly deserved.”
