Light Landmarks Schools Exhibition, 6 – 10pm, 11 Wellington Place

Artist Gemma Wood has worked with pupils from four Leeds primary schools – Armley Park, Little London Academy, Park View and Shakespeare Primary – to inspire the next generation of artists.  Year 5 and 6 pupils have created designs for future light artworks in their favourite places around Leeds.  You can see their creative results in this exhibition.

Food and drink

Fuel up for a busy evening of exploring the city at the Wellington Place Zone! With plenty of options for sit-down meals and street food on-the-go, on-site retailers Veeno, Hoist House, Good Luck Club, Mad Frans and Sociable Folk will be open for business both evenings serving up hot food and drinks.  We’ll have scrumptious street food available in Tower Square on Wednesday night from 7 Star Flag and Shoot the Bull, on the Thursday evening we’ll be joined by Mexican Pilgrim and Pav’s Dhaba.  Plus we have 50 hot chocolates up for grabs each night from Bean Coffee. T&Cs Apply.

The Junction

The Wellington Place Zone also includes our neighbours at The Junction, just a short walk across the viaduct.  The Matter of the Heart is an installation of hearts.  A collection of local residents are each wearing a heart monitor for the duration of Light Night Leeds, and for every heartbeat their own lightbox will flash in time with their beat.  Wherever the participants are during this time, whether they are together or apart, far away or nearby, their hearts will be seen, flashing together.
