International Women’s Day at Wellington Place: Celebrating, supporting and shaping the future

International Women’s Day may officially fall on 8th March, but here at Wellington Place, our commitment to creating a supportive, inclusive environment for women lasts all year round.

Through a trio of events, we have brought our community together to celebrate women’s achievements, support local female led businesses, and empower the next generation of young women across Leeds.

From inspiring conversations to creativity in Tower Square, and the energy of 60 brilliant students exploring their futures, here’s a look at how we have been celebrating International Women’s Day at Wellington Place.

Inspiring the next generation through Women of the Future

It’s always a highlight to host our annual Women of the Future event, delivered in collaboration with Ahead Partnership.

Marking our seventh year of hosting the event, we welcomed 60 students from schools across Leeds for a day designed to help them explore their aspirations, meet real role models and see first‑hand what a supportive, inclusive workplace feels like.

From hands‑on workshops to candid conversations with professionals from within our business community, the day offered students the chance to discover more about careers they may never have considered and to see themselves thriving in inclusive, modern workplaces like Wellington Place.

A huge thank you to every volunteer and partner who made the day such a warm and positive experience. It’s always a privilege to host an event that leaves a lasting mark not just on the students, but on all of us who get to support them!

A celebration of female‑led creativity through our She Creates market

Tower Square came alive with colour, crafts and creativity at She Creates, our International Women’s Day pop‑up market where visitors browsed an incredible line‑up of stalls from brilliant female‑led businesses across Leeds.

Stalls included everything from handmade gifts and boutique clothing to beautiful crafts and (of course) plenty of cake. With live music from local female artists and a crafting workshop adding to the atmosphere, the square was buzzing from start to finish.

Best of all, the market helped raise funds for Leeds Women’s Aid, supporting the vital work they do for women and families across the city. We’re always proud to champion independent makers and creators, and She Creates was a wonderful reminder of the talent right here in our community.

A morning of insight and empowerment with She Inspires

We’ll soon be rounding off our International Women’s Day celebrations with She Inspires, a morning of conversation and connection.

Catered by Shine, an award‑winning social enterprise supporting female founders, women’s health and the wider community, the breakfast will set the perfect tone for a session focused on growth and empowerment.

Our host, Kav Sangha, Vice President of HR at Equifax, will be sharing experiences of building a personal brand, along with practical advice for professionals at every career stage. Her insights promise to spark thoughtful discussion and leave our guests feeling motivated and inspired.

She Inspires takes place on Tuesday 10th March, 9-10am. Reserve your spot here!

While International Women’s Day provides a brilliant moment for celebration, our mission goes far beyond one week in March. At Wellington Place, we’re committed to fostering an inclusive, supportive community all year round, whether that’s empowering young women through events like Women of the Future, championing female‑led businesses, raising funds for local charities such as Leeds Women’s Aid, or spotlighting the diverse voices across our estate.

Thank you to everyone who took part, attended, volunteered or supported our events this year. Together, we’re shaping a workplace, and a city, where everyone feels valued, empowered and able to thrive.
