We’re calling for you and your little explorers to discover the great outdoors this August.
The free Wellington Place Nature Trail will guide families around Wellington Place, uncovering local wildlife, plants and flowers along the way. Pick up a booklet from the Wagon Lifting Hoist Mini Museum and set off on an adventure packed with fun facts and nature-themed challenges.
But the trail is just the beginning. Throughout August, families can enjoy a range of nature-inspired activities, including The Tiny Botanists, The Little Beekeepers Club, The Bug Craft Lab and two special Play PATCH takeovers that will transform Tower Square into a vibrant outdoor space.

Saturday 1 August: The Playground Takeover
10:30-14:30 (drop-in session, booking is encouraged but won’t guarantee entrance).
Tower Square will transform into a vibrant playground. Delivered by The Play PATCH, this will bring endless fun, creativity and hands-on adventures inspired by nature and wildlife. Children will be able to explore, experiment and play in a space designed to spark their curiosity and celebrate the world around them.

Saturday 8 August: The Tiny Botanists
10:00-12:00 (drop-in session, booking is encouraged but won’t guarantee entrance).
Decorate a plant pot and take home bee-friendly flower seeds to grow, helping support bees and other pollinators! This fun activity helps children connect with nature while supporting our hard-working bees and other pollinators.

Saturday 15 August: The Little Beekeepers Club
Session 1: 11:00-12
Session 2: 12:30-1:30pm
The Little Beekeepers Club will offer a hands-on introduction to the world of bees and pollinators! Children will have the opportunity to learn how bees live and work together, exploring their importance within nature and the wider environment. During the guided session, participants will have the opportunity to tend a hive under the closer supervision of Wellington Place’s own beekeeper.
