BuroHappold engineering its future with MEPC move
Developer and Asset Manager, MEPC, has announced that BuroHappold Engineering will be making Wellington Place the site of its brand-new Leeds office.
Occupying 5,660 sq. ft. of the ground floor of 3 Wellington Place, the move represents the ongoing commitment to growth in the north by BuroHappold, which has seen the international integrated engineering consultancy firm playing a pivotal role in the development of Leeds’ most prominent construction projects, including Trinity Shopping Centre and The Armouries Museum.
The move, expected to take place in May 2019, will see BuroHappold join the likes of Mazars, HMRC and Investec in Wellington Place’s newest building at the development.
Mark Philip, Leeds Office Director and Partner at BuroHappold, said: “When it came to selecting a location for our new Leeds office, Wellington Place was an obvious choice. As a business, our employees’ welfare has always been of the upmost importance as we strive to create the best possible working environment – something which is front and centre at Wellington Place. This, combined with access to sustainable transport, a high-quality office environment and a vibrant community means Wellington Place is the ideal location for helping our business expand in one of the most vibrant cities outside London.”
Paul Pavia, Commercial Director of MEPC, added: “BuroHappold is a fantastic new addition to the Wellington Place community and we’re thrilled that they chose to relocate their Leeds office to the development. We’re incredibly proud of the wellbeing initiatives we have on offer, and the fact that this played a role in BuroHappold choosing this as their new home is testament to the business community we’re trying to build.
“We look forward to welcoming the team at BuroHappold and hope their move to the Wellington Place development will bring them every success.”
Meanwhile, work continues across the development, with 4 Wellington Place now well underway. 4 Wellington Place is due for completion in November 2020 and will offer a further 156,000 sq. ft. of prime commercial office space to the city. 4 Wellington Place will finalise the eastern part of the wider Wellington Place masterplan, as the ninth building on the development.
