The release of an independent economic and social report has highlighted the positive impact Wellington Place has had on the city of Leeds

The 10th of April saw the release of an independent report commissioned by Hermes and MEPC, and tells the story of how Wellington Place has evolved. Undertaken by leading researchers Hatch Regeneris, the report assesses the economic and social benefits that the development has achieved to date and how these benefits could develop as the second phase of the masterplan is implemented.

There were many interesting findings from the data, here are just a few key facts:

  • 100 apprenticeships undertaken and completed during construction, supporting a lifetime earnings uplift of £6.1m
  • 90% of occupiers have expanded since moving to Wellington Place
  • 60% of jobs taken by Leeds residents
  • Total wellbeing benefits of around £1.7m per annum
  • 65% of all Grade A space delivered in Central Leeds since 2009 has been at Wellington Place
  • 1,000 tonnes of CO2 savings due to energy efficiency of buildings
  • Supported the wider community via local good causes including Sue Ryder, Yorkshire MESMAC, Martin House Hospice and Breas Cancer Haven.
