Ann Prestidge from Ministry of Justice, based here at 5 Wellington Place, will be setting off on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge. Along with rowing partner Sara Brewer, their team ‘Row Off the Wall‘ will take on the 3,000-mile race rowing across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera in the Canary Islands to Antigua.
They will be completing the challenge unsupported, meaning they take all of their provisions with them and will have to navigate across the ocean independently. The daily, and nightly routine, entails a two-hour shift on the oars alternating with two hours off. During the two hours off there is boat maintenance, personal hygiene, updating the log, water-making, food preparation duties to attend to, as well as sleep! Ann and Sara will do alternate shifts so that, weather permitting, the boat is moving continuously.
Team Row Off the Wall are taking on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society and Street League. If you would like to show your support for the team and these worthwhile causes, click here to donate.
