Irwin Mitchell LLP works closely with the charity UK Sepsis Trust which exists to raise awareness, fight this life-threatening condition, stop preventable deaths and support those affected by sepsis. That’s why this year they’re doing Cycle 4 Sepsis.
In the UK alone, at least 52,000 people lose their lives to sepsis every year. Sepsis is currently not registered and as such, it is thought that the numbers are more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. If someone does survive they are often left with significant disabilities including limb loss, memory issues and extreme tiredness amongst other symptoms (including post sepsis syndrome) impacting on their day to day life. Yet, with early diagnosis, it is easily treatable.
This year for World Sepsis Day (14th September) the charity is having a Cycle 4 Sepsis with cyclists doing a route in Birmingham. Locally, you may want to support the charity by simply getting on your bike and raising funds, just like Irwin Mitchell are doing. Plus it’s a great way to clock some extra miles for those of you who are doing Cycle September with Love to Ride!
